"Base Screen & Roll"

Primary "Go To" Player: #4 Power Forward
Secondary "Go To" Player: #5 Post

This baseline out of bounds play is designed primarily for a quick hitting baseline screen and roll. Although, this is a fairly simple play depending on execution, it has been proven to be one of the most success plays over the years.

Right Side Entry

Base Screen

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O5 sets a baseline screen for O4. O4 goes over the top of O5's screen looking for a high feed from inbounder O2. Out front O3 screens for O1.

Base Screen

Screen & Roll Option: If/when the defense switches, O2 looks to feed O5. When O2 cannot inbound the ball to either O4 or O5, O2 looks to make the inbounds pass to O1 who initiates a predetermined continuity action.

Left Side Entry

Pick the Picker

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O5 sets a baseline screen for O4. O4 goes over the top of O5's screen looking for a high feed from inbounder O2. Out front O3 screens for O1.

Weaakside Lob

Screen & Roll Option: If/when the defense switches, O2 looks to feed O5. When O2 cannot inbound the ball to either O4 or O5, O2 looks to make the inbounds pass to O1 who initiates a predetermined continuity action.

"Single/Double"

Primary "Go To" Player: #2 Shooting Guard
Secondary "Go To" Player: #3 Small Forward

This play is designed for a shooter inbounding the ball utilizing baseline screens. On many occasions, the defense will forget to defend or lose track of the inbounder. It is a particularly effective play against either a man to man or zone defense.

Right Side Entry

Single Double

Inbounds Pass: Inbounder O2 inbounds the ball to O5 stepping out towards the corner or directly to O1 coming off O3's screen. O2 then steps inbounds under the basket. If/when O5 does not have an open shot, O5 passes the ball out to O1.

Single Double

Single/Double Option: Depending on defensive play, shooter O2 has options of cutting off O5's and O3's double screen or off O4's single baseline screen for shot.

Left Side Entry

Single Double

Inbounds Pass: Inbounder O2 inbounds the ball to O5 stepping out towards the corner or directly to O1 coming off O3's screen. O2 then steps inbounds under the basket. If/when O5 does not have an open shot, O5 passes the ball out to O1.

Single Double

Single/Double Option: Depending on defensive play, shooter O2 has options of cutting off O5's and O3's double screen or off O4's single baseline screen for shot.

"Pick the Picker"

Primary "Go To" Player: #2 Shooting Guard
Secondary "Go To" Player: #5 Post

This baseline out of bounds play is a quick hitting screening play. It is sure to produce an easy layup shot against any team that is not prepared to defend it.

Right Side Entry

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O5 steps up and sets back screen for shooter O2. O4 then sets a screen for O5. Inbounder O3 looks to feed O2 coming off O5's backs screen or O5 cutting to the basket off O4's screen.

Pick the Picker

Safety value: If/when the inbounder O3 cannot feed O2, O4 or O5, O3 then makes an inbound pass to O1 initiating a predetermined continuity action.

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O5 steps up and sets back screen for shooter O2. O4 then sets a screen for O5. Inbounder O3 looks to feed O2 coming off O5's backs screen or O5 cutting to the basket off O4's screen.

"Weakside Lob"

Primary "Go To" Player: #4 Power Forward
Secondary "Go To" Player: #5 Post

This baseline out of bounds play is designed for a weakside lob to O4. O3 takes the ball out of bounds as O1 and O2 set up in the high positions of the box alignment. O5 on ball side and O2 assume low positions. This weakside lob is very effective against zone defenses as well as man to man.

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O1 sets a screen for O4 and pops out. O3 looks to make an inbounds pass to O4 or to O1.

Weakside Lob

Weakside Lob: O2 creates a lead as O1 takes ball on dribble toward opposite side of court. Post O5 flashes into the middle calling for the ball as inbounder O3 sets a back screen for O4. O1 or O2 looks to make a lob pass to O4.

Left Side Entry

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O1 sets a screen for O4 and pops out. O3 looks to make an inbounds pass to O4 or to O1.

Weakside Lob: O2 creates a lead as O1 takes ball on dribble toward opposite side of court. Post O5 flashes into the middle calling for the ball as inbounder O3 sets a back screen for O4. O1 or O2 looks to make a lob pass to O4.

This baseline out of bounds play is designed primarily for a weakside lob pass; however, it also has very good baseline screen and post up options.

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O5 pops out and O4 sets a cross screen for O1. Inbounder O2 looks to pass to O5 who in turn passes to O1 coming off O4's screen or inbounds the ball directly to O1 on the wing.

Base Lob Right con't.

Back Screen & Base Screen Options:O1 looks to make a lob pass to O4 cutting to the basket off smaller O3's back screen. If/when the lob is not available, O1 looks to hit either shooter O2 coming off O5's base screen or O5 posting up.

Inbounds Pass: From the box alignment, O5 pops out and O4 sets a cross screen for O1. Inbounder O2 looks to pass to O5 who in turn passes to O1 coming off O4's screen or inbounds the ball directly to O1 on the wing.
